TooSerious has moved!

A MESSAGE TO ALL - TS HAS MOVED HERE: http://www.tooserious.com.au - If you're still using this site, you're not going to find the 09 data!

So update your bookmarks, get over there and enjoy!!

September 29, 2008

The end of 08.

So, the Hawkers got over the line, and as much as it pains me to say this, good on them. they put in a good effort.

I guess the same thing can be said for JOHN and the NEWBERRY STARS. While I can't say I like his manouver, I didn't make a rule against it.

So, you're the winner mate. Well done.

However, I'm thinking I'll throw up a handful of TS memberships to some randomly draw out competitors.

These memberships are actually going to mean something more for next year as TS is currently undergoing a complete re-design, to make it easier to use, faster and most importantly, to add new features to assist you as a coach. And to access these new features, you'll need a subscription. (Though I believe the current TS site will stay around for free - It just won't score the new features of the updated version).

The blog is definitely going to be pumping next year with a couple of top 20 finishers (Supercoach) saying their bits. And who knows, perhaps I'll be able to get someone in on the DT side of things for next year. :)

And speaking of Top 20 finishers - I've started a thread on the forum for testimonials - So if you use TS and did alright, drop by, let us know. Or if you just want to say a good word. :D

Don't forget to check back in during the off-season, both to keep up to date with any important news (Like did you know that Steele Sidebottom kicked 10 goals in his premiership game this weekend?), trade week, I'm sure will generate some interesting discussions, and finally, any updates to the site will be put up throughout the offseason.

So keep looking in. (Though I'm sure you EPL guys will - I'll get that as a "default" option shortly...)

It's been a heck of a year, a lot of fun.

So thank you from all us here at TooSerious.

And have a great off season.

- walesy.

PS - If you've read this far,  here's the prize winners. Drop me an email to claim.

NEWBERRY STARS - JOHN - $60
iloveujay - josh - $40

Free subscriptions for next year.
iloveujay - josh (hopefully it does some way to soothing the pain - well played)
BANG! - Tiarna
The Dynasty - Dean
Chicken Stranglers - Kirk
Supersonics - Annie

See you all next year.

Sportal "Classic" EPL movements.

As all of you are ever aware of, the end of the '08 football season is fast approaching.

However, the astute fantasy sports fan would have already noticed that the Sportal EPL competition opened last week.

And the even more astute fan would have noticed that TooSerious is now catering for your team management.

While the Injuries and Named teams won't be tracked, we will be tracking salary movements for all you Dream Teaming needs.

Enjoy,
Walesy

Updates of sorts...

Heya all, first of all, no teams tonight (As you may have noticed...)

Also, there appeared to have been a bit of down-time tonight... I hope no-one was overly affected. :)

www.tooserious.com.au . Try it out, it should bring you right back here. So I can imagine some exciting developments occuring on there over the offseason.

And speaking of the off season, is anyone here running in the Sportal EPL Comp? I imagine that by week three, I'll be tracking salary movements for it. Though because of the nature of trades (The real ones. :D) and the pain that that can cause, you might notice that I'm a little slow in updating teams/new players. But if something is wrong that affects you, let me know. :D

But it's not the off season yet, it's finals time! I hope you're all progressing well...
(More over the break)

It's been a slow, long week...

but to make it a little better, we'll give you all a little somethin' something' to "celebrate" the split round, I've developed some new features for TooSerious.

Namely, new columns. And the ability to show, or hide, whichever columns you would like too see. Just click on the Account tab to have a look.

A quick run-down of your new options are as follows:

Total Points - This will show or hide the Total Points column.
Movement - This will show or hide the Movement column.
YTD Movement - This will show or hide the Year to date Movement column.
Points - This will show or hide the Points column.
Salary Movement (Overall) - Displays salary movements based on the overall average. This also controls the Break even columns.
3 Week Display - Displays a 3 week average and associated salary movements (as above, but for a 3 week average)
5 Week Display - Displays a 5 week average and associated salary movements (as above, but for a 5 week average)
TS Ratios - Essentially, this is a formula to assist you in figuring out a players worth. It's worked out as ((Overall or Average points)/ Current Price) To work out a price ratio.
Real Values - This uses the salary formulas to determine what a players salary *should* be for his average, his 3 and 5 week averages as well as his total score for the year.

Also, to assist those of you who *must* display everything, there's a new field to change the width of the display. 300 is the default.

A word of note though, the more columns you display, the slower everything will run for you.

So there you go, we now have a system set up for me to add additional columns. If anyone has any suggestions on what else they might like to see, let me know!

Cheers.

Walesy's weekly excuse...

Once again, the teams are gunna be late.

But this time it's not paintball related - nor anything fun related.

I've just spent the last 6 hours getting my sons foot stitched up at the Childrens Hospital.

Damn kids and their getting into mischief.

Don't worry though, all is well, and I imagine the teams to be up tomorrow morning. (Well, at least the teams that are named. :D)

June 19, 2008

No teams tonight...

Sorry guys, I won't have time to enter in the teams tonight.

It seems I have prior obligations with Paintball.

But you can all rest assured, that while you're cursing me out for not getting the teams up, I'll be getting pinged in the back at close range. and hopefully will have the bruises to prove it.

Cheers all, and I'll try my darnest to get the squads up first thing tomorrow morning.

Round 12 Teams

This week provides us with some key players coming back into their sides and there are some few outs also. Watson is back for tonight's game against the eagles, Houli out with a groin injury. Murphy's back from suspension for the dogs, while Bradshaw is a big out for the Lions who welcome back Drummond into their side. Can this spell danger for Joel Mc? Wells and Josh Smith are back for the roos while the crown and hawks welcome back Griffen and Dew. Brent Renouf will make his debut for the hawks and may be a good downgrade in the ruck position this week. Big Bad Barry's back for the swans and will look to throw some punches against the saints who also welcome back King, Gilbert and Harvey. Out goes L.Fisher and Armitage. In Sunday's games Pendlebury, J.Selwood and S.Burgoyne are back with Scarlett and J.King both big outs for their teams.

The ladder based on SC Points

As part of the latest upcoming update to TooSerious, I've been tabluating teams For and Against scores.

Amusingly, I've found that the current ladder (Based on for/against percentages for the ladder, along with any win-losses) would read like this.

Team Points Percentage
HAW 40 111.1163
SYD 36 116.3856
GEE 36 113.5203
WBD 32 112.3152
ADE 32 109.4601
COL 28 108.5933
BRL 28 100.7520
RIC 20 103.9645
CAR 20 101.8575
PTA 16 99.1661
KAN 16 94.7696
STK 16 94.6065
ESS 12 82.5621
WCE 8 89.9383
FRE 8 86.6608
MEL 4 83.5211

Which is pretty close to the actual ladder.

Which makes me wonder, can we use this data to make predictions about how we think the ladder will look at seasons end?
